Our Diagnostic Services

From routine blood tests to advanced endoscopic procedures, we provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic services to support your care.

ECG (Electrocardiogram)

An ECG records the electrical activity of your heart and is used to detect arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac conditions. It is a quick, painless, and non-invasive procedure that provides vital information about your heart's rhythm and function.

Preparation

No special preparation is required. Avoid applying lotions or oils to the chest area on the day of the test. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. The test takes approximately 10 minutes.

Pap Smear

A Pap smear (Pap test) screens for cervical cancer by collecting cells from the cervix to detect abnormal changes that could become cancerous. It is a vital routine test recommended for all women aged 21 and over, or as directed by your physician.

Preparation

Schedule the test when you are not menstruating. Avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal medications, or douching for 48 hours beforehand. The procedure is brief (a few minutes) and is performed by our OB/GYN specialist.

HIV & Syphilis Testing

Confidential blood tests for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and Syphilis, two sexually transmitted infections that can have serious health consequences if undetected. Early diagnosis allows for effective treatment and prevents transmission to others.

Preparation

No fasting is required. A small blood sample is taken by venepuncture. Results are handled with strict confidentiality. Pre- and post-test counselling is available upon request. Results are typically available within 24–48 hours.

Pregnancy Test

A clinical pregnancy test detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in the blood or urine to confirm pregnancy. A blood-based quantitative hCG test is more sensitive than home tests and can detect pregnancy earlier and confirm viability.

Preparation

For a urine test, a first-morning urine sample provides the most accurate result. For a blood test, no special preparation is needed. Results from blood tests are typically available within a few hours. Our team provides supportive counselling following your result.

FIT (Fecal Immunochemical Test)

The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) detects hidden (occult) blood in the stool, which can be an early indicator of colorectal cancer or polyps. It is a non-invasive, at-home stool collection test that is highly recommended as part of colorectal cancer screening for adults over 45.

Preparation

A stool collection kit will be provided. Follow the included instructions carefully. No dietary restrictions are generally required, but avoid collecting samples during menstruation. Return the sample to our clinic promptly. Results are available within 3–5 business days.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a procedure in which a flexible camera (colonoscope) is used to examine the entire length of the large intestine (colon). It is the gold standard for detecting colorectal cancer, polyps, inflammation, and other abnormalities. Polyps can often be removed during the same procedure.

Preparation

A bowel preparation (laxative solution) must be taken the day before to fully cleanse the colon. You will need to follow a clear liquid diet for 24 hours prior. Arrange for someone to drive you home as sedation is administered. Detailed preparation instructions will be provided at the time of booking.

Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Also known as a gastroscopy or OGD (oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy), this procedure uses a thin, flexible camera to visualise the oesophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine. It is used to investigate symptoms such as persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained nausea, stomach pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Preparation

You must fast (no food or drink) for at least 6–8 hours before the procedure. Certain medications may need to be temporarily stopped — your doctor will advise. The procedure is performed under sedation and takes approximately 15–30 minutes. Arrange transport home as you will not be able to drive.
